Pune, 15th June 2026: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is scheduled to flag off the new Pune–Sainagar Shirdi Daily Express from Pune Railway Station on June 17, 2026, marking the introduction of the first direct train service between Pune and Shirdi.

The new daily service is expected to provide direct rail connectivity between Pune, one of Maharashtra’s largest educational and industrial centres, and Shirdi, a major pilgrimage destination that attracts devotees from across the country throughout the year.

According to railway officials, the train will offer a direct travel option for passengers visiting the Sai Baba temple at Shirdi, eliminating the need for multiple train changes or road transfers between the two destinations.

The route will include halts at Daund Chord Cabin, Shrigonda, Ahilyanagar, Rahuri and Belapur, among other stations. These stops are expected to improve rail access for passengers travelling between Pune and various towns in Ahilyanagar district and adjoining regions.

Ahilyanagar, an important administrative, military and commercial centre, is expected to benefit from enhanced connectivity with Pune. The halt at Rahuri will serve passengers associated with Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, while Belapur will provide rail access to travellers visiting nearby religious destinations, including Shani Shingnapur.

Railway officials said the service is aimed at strengthening passenger connectivity between western Maharashtra and the pilgrimage town of Shirdi. The train is also expected to serve students, patients, business travellers and tourists commuting between Pune and towns along the route.

Pune, often regarded as one of Maharashtra’s leading education, information technology and manufacturing hubs, attracts a large floating population of students and professionals. Shirdi, located in Ahilyanagar district, remains among the country’s busiest religious destinations, receiving visitors throughout the year.

The inaugural run of the Pune–Sainagar Shirdi Daily Express is scheduled to commence from Pune Railway Station at 3.30 pm on June 17.
