Pune: Shiv Sena Vibhag Pramukh Deepak Maratkar Murdered
Budhwar Peth, October 2, 2020: In a shocking incident, a group of assailants attacked Shiv Sena’s Kasba Vibhag Pramukh Deepak Maratkar with sharp weapons around midnight. He succumbed to injuries around 3 am today.
Maratkar is the son of former Shiv Sena corporator Vijay Maratkar, who died two months ago after a brief illness. Police suspect that Deepak’s murder could be the fallout of past enmity. However, the cops are yet to nab anyone.
According to police, the incident took place around midnight in Gavli Ali in Budhwar Peth near his office. Around 4-5 men came on bikes and attacked Deeepak with sharp weapons and fled. Some residents rushed Deepak to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment.
An FIR has been registered by Faraskhana police station against unidentified persons. Teams from the local detection branch (DB) and Crime Branch have been roped in to trace the assailants.
