Pune: Shivshahi Bus Service To End Amid Technical Defects And Rising Complaints?

Pune, 2nd December 2024: The Shivshahi buses, introduced as a semi-luxury alternative, have faced operational issues since their inception in 2017. Despite early warnings about structural and technical flaws, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) delayed action until mounting public criticism forced a reassessment. Over the years, accidents involving Shivshahi buses have raised concerns about their safety and reliability.

Currently, MSRTC operates 792 Shivshahi buses, of which only 500 are in active service, while 392 remain grounded for repairs.

While news of the accident has been circulating for the past few days, there were discussions about the Shivshahi buses being shut down across the state. However, the MSRTC has finally put an end to the rumors that have been spreading continuously. “The MSRTC currently has 792 Shivshahi (air-conditioned) buses in operation. There is no technical fault in them. Additionally, the MSRTC has no intention of shutting down these buses”, the MSRTC clarified.
