Mundhwa, 9th September 2025: A deeply disturbing incident has come to light in Mundhwa’s Kesavnagar area, where a Shiv temple inside Godrej Infinity Society was vandalised. Residents were left shocked when they found the Shivling uprooted and discarded in a garbage heap, while idols of Gauri and Ganesh were also desecrated.

According to residents, the idols had been installed during the holy month of Shravan. On Monday morning, devotees arriving for routine puja discovered the vandalism and the missing Shivling, which was later traced to a garbage pile nearby. Society members alleged that the act was carried out by some persons within the society itself, with CCTV cameras reportedly switched off during the incident.

The matter was promptly reported to Mundhwa Police, and residents have demanded strict action against the culprits.

The Sakal Hindu Samaj and local devotees strongly condemned the desecration, terming it a “shameful act against religious sentiments,” and demanded strict action against the culprits. On Monday evening, residents organised a Maha Aarti at 5:30 p.m. at the vandalised temple premises to pay homage and register their protest.

The incident has sparked intense outrage, raising serious questions about the security of places of worship within private housing societies and the growing intolerance towards religious faith.
