Pune, 9th September 2025: In a move aimed at resolving long-pending land acquisition cases, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has invited farmers and landowners whose plots were acquired between 1972 and 1983 for the erstwhile Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority to attend a dialogue session on the 6.25% land return scheme.

The interactive meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 9, at 11 a.m. at the G.D. Madgulkar Auditorium, PMRDA officials confirmed.

Under the scheme, 6.25% of developed land is to be returned to the original landowners or their legal heirs as compensation for plots acquired during the township development drive. While the process has already begun, authorities say that while some beneficiaries have submitted applications, several have either not applied or filed incomplete documents.

Deputy Commissioner of Land and Property, Himmat Kharade, appealed to farmers and heirs to make full use of the opportunity. “We request farmers whose lands were acquired during that period to participate in this interaction so that they can avail themselves of the 6.25% land return benefit without delays,” he added.

The initiative is being seen as a significant step toward addressing decades-old concerns of farmers and ensuring transparency in land return procedures.
