Pune, 2nd October 2026: The deadline for filing claims and objections under the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has been extended to October 12, 2026. Voters who have received notices due to ‘no mapping’ or logical discrepancies in their electoral roll entries will not need to visit tehsil offices to submit the required documents. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit their homes to collect the documents, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi said on Friday.

The extension gives eligible voters additional time to verify their names in the draft electoral rolls, apply for new voter registration, seek corrections and submit claims or objections.

Voters who have received notices over logical discrepancies in their electoral roll entries do not need to queue up at tehsil offices or the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) for hearings. They should keep the required documents ready, and the concerned BLO will visit their residence to collect them.

Depending on the facilities available, voters may also submit documents through WhatsApp or other online modes. The cases will be processed based on the documents submitted, the BLO’s report or a panchnama, as applicable. In exceptional cases where documents are incomplete, an online hearing may be arranged if required.

Special SIR Camps on October 3, 4, 10 and 11

To ensure that no eligible voter is left out during the extended period, special camps will be organised at all polling stations across Pune district on October 3, 4, 10 and 11.

BLOs will be present at these camps to help voters verify their names in the draft electoral rolls, submit Form 6 for new voter registration and Form 8 for corrections to existing electoral roll details. Voters who have received notices will also be able to submit the required documents at the camps.

Online Voter Registration and Corrections

Voters can check their names in the draft electoral rolls, apply for new registration through Form 6 and request corrections through Form 8 online. These services are available through the Election Commission of India’s Voter Helpline app.

For information about the SIR process, notices, voter registration and special camps, citizens can call the toll-free helpline 1950.

College Students to Get Registration Facility From October 5 to 9

Online voter registration for eligible students will be conducted at junior and senior colleges from October 5 to 9, 2026.

The district administration will also conduct voter awareness and special registration drives until October 12 at industrial establishments, companies, factories and other institutions to facilitate the registration of eligible citizens.

Collector Jitendra Dudi said the administration was taking necessary steps to ensure that no eligible voter in the district was left out of the electoral rolls.

He urged voters who had received notices not to panic or crowd tehsil offices, but to contact their respective BLOs and make use of the special camps and online facilities. He also appealed to citizens not to believe rumours regarding the SIR exercise.
