Pune: Six Foreigners Arrested With MD, Cocaine Drugs Worth Rs 68 Lakhs

Pune, 11 March 2021:  The anti-narcotics cell 1 of the Pune City Police Crime Branch has arrested six foreigners, including three women, for illegal drug trading. The Police have recovered Rs 68.86 lakh worth of Mephedrone (MD) and Cocaine drugs from the accused. They have been living in Pune for the last few years.

 

The arrested persons have been identified as Manfred Daud Manda (30), Annastazia David (26), Hasan Ali Kasid (32), Bekai Hamis Faomi (42), all natives of Tanzania; and Shamim Nandawula (30) and Persey Naiga (25) from Uganda.

 

Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta said that on March 10, Police Naik Manoj Salunke received a tip-off that some foreigners are involved in drug supply. Accordingly, a team led by Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad raided a row house in Atur Hills Society in Undri.

 

“The team has seized 1.36 kg Cocaine worth Rs 9.57 lakhs and 1.11 kg Mephedrone worth Rs 57.55 lakhs, Rs 54,000 cash, mobile phone, electronic weighing machine, and plastic pouches. An FIR in this regard has been registered at Kondhwa police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act”, Gupta informed at a press conference today.

 

He further informed that all the accused have been staying in Pune for the last 1-4 years. They had arrived here on a different visa like a student, medical, and business.

“We are investigating the source of the drugs and looking for other people involved in the drugs racket,” he added.

The Police took action under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta, Joint Commissioner Ravindra Shisve, Additional CP (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (crime) Shrinivas Ghadge, and ACP (Crime 1) Surendranath Deshmukh.

The team included Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad, Assistant Police Inspector Laxman Dhengale, and police personnel Pravin Shirke, Rahul Joshi, Maruti Pardhi, Pandurang Pawar, Ruby Abraham, Manoj Salunke, Pravin Uttekar, Vishal Shinde, Vishal Dalvi, Rehana Shaikh, and Yogesh Mohite.
