Pune: Six Lakh Women’s Names Included In Property Card In Rural Areas

Pune, 15th March 2022: Under the women empowerment initiative taken by the Pune Zilla Parishad, a total of six lakh women’s names have been included in the property card in rural areas of the Pune district. This includes 5.87 lakh women from 1118 gram panchayat.

For the last few weeks, a special drive is being organized in the Gram Panchayats to include the name of women on the property card (form 8-A). Many people have responded spontaneously to this drive. After completing the procedure, the updated property card has been handed over to the residents. Ownership for the property is an aspect of empowerment and the district administration has taken steps to address it.

There are 1384 gram panchayats in the Pune district. The property cards count 9.33 lakhs in those gram panchayat areas. A total of 1118 Gram Panchayats have been initiated to include the women’s names on the property card. The remaining 266 Gram Panchayats are yet to include the names.
