Pune Sizzles As Maximum Temperatures Soar To New Season Highs, Koregaon Park Records Scorching 44.4°C Temperature
Pune, 11th May 2023: Pune city witnessed a significant surge in maximum temperatures on Thursday, as predicted by the IMD’s forecast on Wednesday.
Koregaon Park recorded the highest temperature of 44.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Vadgaon Sheri at 43.1 degrees Celsius, and Pashan and Shivajinagar at 41.1 and 41.0 degrees Celsius respectively.
The IMD has clarified that this increase in temperatures is the highest recorded this season. The immediate impact was felt on Thursday, with Koregaon Park, Shivajinagar, Vadgaon Sheri, and Pashan experiencing the highest temperatures so far. Other areas such as Talegaon Dhamdhere, Shirur, Rajguru Nagar, Khed, Chinchwad, Dudulgaon, Hadapsar, Ballalwadi, Lavale, Magarpatta, Talegaon, Daund, Purandar, Ambegaon, Girivan, NDA, and Baramati recorded temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius.
However, Haveli, Narayangaon, Malin, Nimgiri, Lonavala, Bhor, and Lavasa reported relatively lower temperatures ranging from 37 to 39 degrees Celsius. This hot weather pattern is expected to persist in the city for the next two days.
The IMD has appealed to citizens, especially senior citizens, individuals with underlying health conditions, and children, to take precautions and avoid venturing out during the hot weather. It is advised that individuals going out for work should ensure adequate care and stay hydrated.
