Pune Skater Jinesh Nanal To Represent India at World Games in China this August

Pune, 2nd May 2025: The Government of Maharashtra recently presented the prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati Rajya Krida Purskar. Among the awardees, Pune’s Jinesh Sheetal Satyan Nanal carved his name in golden letters in the history of Maharashtra’s sports by receiving the ‘Shiv Chhatrapati Rajya Krida Purskar 2023–24’ for his outstanding performance in the sport of Inline Freestyle Skating. This award is one of the state’s highest and most respected sports honors. Jinesh was specially felicitated to celebrate this achievement by his family and well-wishers. His mother, Dr. Sheetal Satyan Nanal; his father, Dr. Satyan Nanal; Dr. Iqbal Sayyed; his maternal uncle, Vishal Khatod (Jain), Ketan Nanal, Krish Khatod, and Vijay Baji were present at the felicitation ceremony.
Jinesh has been training under coach Ashutosh Jagtap for the last ten years, maintaining consistent practice and hard work, which has earned him a distinguished place in Indian skating. Recently, at the World Games Series held in Hong Kong, he secured one silver and one bronze medal. These competitions, held under the authority of the International Olympic Committee, are considered prestigious for global athletes, and Jinesh proved his skills on this platform. He has now been selected to represent India at the upcoming World Championship in China this August.
Jinesh has already represented India at the Asian Games held in China. Nationally, he has won the championship title five times in a row and currently ranks first in India and seventh in the world in skating. Both his parents, Dr. Sheetal and Dr. Satyan Nanal, are medical professionals with over 20 years of service in the healthcare sector.
His mother, Dr. Sheetal, shared, “Alongside sports, Jinesh has shown remarkable commitment in academics as well. He is currently in his third year of Computer Engineering at MIT World Peace University. Due to his excellence in both academics and sports, he has also received a scholarship. His talent has been supported by hard work, dedication, and the right guidance. As parents, we are extremely proud of his achievements.”
Coach Ashutosh Jagtap said, “Jinesh’s successful journey is backed by years of intense effort, focus, discipline, and consistent practice. He constantly pushes his limits to reach new heights. He has become a role model for young skaters. This award is not just a personal achievement for Jinesh but a proud moment for the entire Indian skating community.”
Receiving the award at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi from Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in the presence of Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, was a moment of immense pride.
“Representing India is an honor. My parents and coach have played a crucial role in my journey. Their constant encouragement helped me achieve this success. My dream is to win a medal for India at the Olympics,” said Jinesh Sheetal Satyan Nanal.
