Pune, 6th November 2023: In a daring and unprecedented move, Shital Mahajan, renowned for her skydiving feats over the North and South Poles and all seven continents, is embarking on a groundbreaking expedition titled “Skydiving in front of the magnificent Mount Everest,” with the unwavering support of the Reliance Foundation.

Scheduled between November 7 and November 15, 2023, weather permitting, this audacious endeavor goes beyond personal achievement, symbolizing the empowerment of Indian women on the global stage.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary slogan “Beti ki Udaan, Desh Ka Swabhimaan” (the flight or success of a girl child is the pride of a nation), Mahajan expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “It is a dream I have nurtured since 2007, and with the help of the Reliance Foundation, I am now poised to make it a reality.”

The Everest Skydive, a pinnacle in adventure, involves jumping off an AS350 B3 chopper in front of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak at 29,035 feet (8,848 meters). The jump will occur from 23,000 feet, just below Everest, with parachute openings planned between 16,000 and 18,000 feet AMSL. The landing sites include the Himalayan dreamlands of Syangboche (12,402 ft) and Amadablam Basecamp (15,000 ft), providing an unparalleled aerial adventure.

This extraordinary experience, set against the backdrop of the world’s highest peaks, promises an adrenaline rush and eye-feasting views of the picturesque Sherpa settlement. The expedition includes acclimatization in high altitude, visits to Sagarmatha National Park, and landings on the highest drop zones in the world, adding to the uniqueness of the adventure.

Mahajan aims to achieve several world and national records through this expedition, including the highest altitude parachute landing by a woman and being the first woman in the world to skydive over the three poles—North Pole, South Pole, and Mount Everest.

The Everest Skydive Itinerary spans 11 days, beginning with arrival in Kathmandu and culminating in departure on November 15. Mahajan expresses her heartfelt thanks to the Reliance Foundation, the Government of India, and the Government of Maharashtra for their steadfast support, emphasizing her desire to project the image of Indian women on the world stage.

This expedition not only marks a personal triumph for Mahajan but also contributes to the narrative of Indian women breaking barriers and reaching new heights.
