Pune: Slow Server At Stamps And Registration Department Causes Delays; Citizens Threaten Protest

Pune, 30th March 2025: Citizens visiting the Stamps and Registration Department for property document registration have been facing severe inconvenience due to the sluggish server performance over the past few days. As a result, what should ideally be a 40-minute registration process is now taking an entire day or even two, forcing people to stand in long queues and endure unnecessary delays.
Despite paying Stamps and Registration Department fees amounting to crores of rupees, citizens are left waiting as the system fails to process the challans promptly. The slow server response is causing immense frustration, as people’s valuable time is being wasted. Although the registration receipt specifies that the document will be scanned within 40 minutes, the malfunctioning system is significantly delaying the process.
The issue has become particularly pressing as a large number of citizens have rushed to the registration offices since mid-March, fearing an increase in stamp duty rates. The resulting crowd is further straining the already sluggish system. In many cases, the document registration and scanning process is taking up to two hours, adding to the citizens’ woes.
According to Rohan Suravase-Patil, the State Congress Youth General Secretary, if the server issues are not resolved immediately, the department will face intense agitation. He urged the authorities to take the matter seriously and expedite the server repairs to prevent further inconvenience to the public.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Binwade, Inspector General of Stamps and Registration Department, assured that the department is monitoring the situation. He claimed that no technical issues currently persist at any registration office and that the department’s staff is actively working to ensure smooth operations. Binwade stated that efforts are being made to prevent any further inconvenience to citizens.
