Pune: Social Media Abuzz with Ajit Pawar’s Defeat in Baramati
Baramati, 5th June 2024: Sunetra Pawar, the Mahayuti candidate from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, faced defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in Baramati. Consequently, Ajit Pawar’s name dominated social media discussions throughout Tuesday.
The Ajit Pawar-led NCP managed to secure only one Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra, with Sunil Tatkare’s victory in the Raigad Lok Sabha Constituency marking the party’s sole win. However, Sunetra Pawar, Ajit Pawar’s wife, lost to her sister-in-law and Ajit’s sister, Supriya Sule, in Baramati. This outcome fueled an increase in posts mentioning Ajit Pawar’s name on social media platforms, with many users trolling and critiquing him, while also commenting on BJP’s political strategies, thus keeping the topic trending.
Alongside Ajit Pawar, other prominent figures such as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and veteran leader Sharad Pawar also received attention on social media. This trend sparked discussions within Maharashtra, with many expressing dissatisfaction with the state’s current political landscape.
Filmmaker Sameer Sanjay Vidwans shared his views on the election results via social media, stating, “Supriya tai won. I am glad my vote wasn’t wasted. Regardless of who governs, no one is invincible. Ego can easily lead one astray, but to what end? Only to dive from the peak.”
