Pune: Son Arrested for Stabbing Father to Death Over Minor Dispute in Kothrud
Kothrud, 3rd October 2025: In a shocking incident, a 33-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 72-year-old father to death over a minor dispute in Jayabhavani Nagar, Kothrud. The Pune police have arrested the accused in connection with the case.
The deceased has been identified as Tanaji Paygude, a resident of Jayabhavani Nagar, Paud Road, Kothrud. His son, Sachin Tanaji Paygude, allegedly attacked him during an argument. The complaint was filed by Tanaji’s wife, Suman Paygude (68), at the Kothrud police station.
According to the police, the Paygude family lives in a chawl in Jayabhavani Nagar. On Thursday, October 2, around 12:30 pm, Tanaji and Sachin were in the attic. As the family was preparing for Dussehra, Tanaji’s family members were attempting to administer medicine into his eyes. When they asked Sachin to turn off the television, a verbal altercation broke out between father and son.
During the argument, Sachin allegedly stabbed his father in the throat and face with a knife. Hearing the screams, Suman Paygude rushed to the attic and found her husband critically injured. Tanaji was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to his injuries before receiving treatment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Sambhaji Kadam, ACP Bhausaheb Patare, and Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Deshmane visited the scene following the incident. The accused fled initially but was later arrested by the police. Assistant Police Inspector Pawar is leading the investigation into the case.
