Pune: Southern Command Observes National Organ Donation Day with Awareness Event

Pune, 9th August 2024: In honor of National Organ Donation Day, Command Hospital in Pune organized a significant event aimed at promoting awareness about the critical importance of organ donation. The event saw the presence of Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command, along with Komal Seth, Regional President of the Southern Star Army Wives Welfare Association. The gathering was well-attended by military personnel and their families.

The program included insightful presentations by medical experts from Command Hospital and the Army Institute of Cardiac Thoracic Sciences. These specialists addressed essential topics such as Brain Death, debunked common misconceptions about organ donation, and shared inspiring stories of successful transplants within the armed forces.

Arti Gokhale, Central Coordinator of the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre, Pune, delivered the keynote address. She emphasized the life-saving potential of organ donation and its impact on countless lives.

In a touching moment during the event, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth and Komal Seth honored organ donors and their families for their extraordinary contributions. The ceremony highlighted the selflessness and courage of those who chose to give the gift of life through organ donation.
