Pune: Special Camp Organized For Transgender Community

Pune, 26th December 2022: A special camp was organized under the association of the Social Welfare Department Pune and Collectorate Pune to enable the transgender of the district to get the benefit of various schemes under one roof.
Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Sangita Davkhar, Assistant Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Zonal Office Asmita Tambe, Social Welfare Inspector Netrali Yewle, Taluka Coordinator Mangesh Gadiwan, members of Sosva Training Institute and Tritiya Foundation Pune, Mangalmukhi Kinnar Charitable Trust Prerna Vaghela, Ashika Punekar, Kadambari, and Madhu Guru of Mitra Clinic participated in this camp program organized at Saint Dnyaneshwar Samaj Mandir, Bhawani Peth.
On this occasion, Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Sangita Davkhar said, “The Pune district is on the first rank in the state in distributing identity cards to transgenders and so far 343 identity cards have been distributed to the transgender community in the district.”
“As many transgenders as possible should register as voters by informing the transgender community about their right to vote and its importance,” she added. She also appealed to register on the portal https://transgender.dosje.gov.
On this occasion, 42 transgenders registered for transgender community ID cards, 35 for voter ID cards, 77 for Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana, and 18 for the Aadhaar card and benefited from the schemes.
Representatives of Ankushrao Landge Educational Social Trust Bhosari, Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar Yojana, Voter Registration and Aadhaar Card Registration Department staff, and the transgender community were present.
