Pune, 6th January 2025: Central Railway has been consistent in its efforts to provide better services to its passengers. Infrastructure upgradation works have been carried out on a war footing on the Daund-Solapur-Wadi section, in order to increase the speed of trains. These include Track improvement, Over Head Equipment regulation, Signalling works and other technical works.

These works have enabled CR to increase the speed of trains from 110 kmph to 130 kmph on the Daund-Solapur-Wadi section (341.80 kms) in both UP and Down direction.

A total of 44 pairs of trains (88 train services with LHB rakes) will be speeded up from existing speed of 110 kmph to 130 kmph on these sections with immediate effect.

Increasing train speed can have a significant impact on passengers, offering numerous benefits that enhance their travel experience.

  • Increase in speed will reduce travel time and passengers can reach their destinations quicker, leading to time saving, increased productivity and economic benefits.
  • This will create an opportunity to increase the number of trains to fulfill demand in future.
  • Faster trains can lead to increased passenger satisfaction, as travellers enjoy a more efficient and comfortable journey.
  • Faster trains can lead to reduced fuel consumption, resulting in lower greenhouse gas emissions and reduced carbon footprint.
  • This will also enable Central Railway to gain a competitive advantage over other modes of transportation, attracting more passengers and increasing market share.
