Pune: Speedy Action To Resolve Chandni Chowk Traffic Jam

Pune, 30th August 2022: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed to take measures for the traffic jams in Chandni Chowk and the new flyover project will be implemented by demolishing the existing old bridge.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project director Sanjay Kadam has informed that in this regard, the process of shifting the service channels on the existing overpass has been started.

 

To solve the problem of traffic jams at Chandni Chowk on the Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway in Pune city, it has been decided to make the highway six-lane by demolishing the existing narrow bridge between September 12 to September 15.

Now, to speed up this project, the work has started to relocate the service channels like water supply, electricity channel etc. on the existing overpass through the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Defence Department and other departments.

 

According to the ongoing work, preparations have been started for the excavation of abutments on both sides for the construction of the new bridge. The filling work of the existing service road in front of Ved Bhavan, which has been closed for a long time, has been started. The work of retaining wall and soil filling to convert the existing four-lane road to a six-lane highway is going on.

 

Work is in progress to open the road to traffic by lifting the guardrail on the service road in front of Sringeri Matha. The service road will be opened for traffic next week. The work of the Mulshi to Satara ramp is in progress and is scheduled to be completed in the next seven days.

 

Kadam has also informed that to control the traffic on the highway, traffic marshals are being appointed as per the requirement through the Police Department.
