Pune, 11th January 2023: Preparations for land acquisition for the ring road project proposed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) are at full speed. Assessment of 26 affected villages in Maval and Mulshi talukas has been completed. Also, a separate cell will be established soon for land acquisition. The actual work of the project will be started after the completion of the land acquisition in the current year.

To solve the traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities, the Road Department has taken up a 172 km long and 110-meter wide circular road. This road has been divided into two parts – East and West.

The eastern part includes 11 villages in Maval, 12 in Khed, 15 in Haveli, five in Purandar, and three in Bhor, while the western part includes five villages in Bhor, 11 in Haveli, 15 in Mulshi, and six in Maval. 695 hectares of land has to be acquired for the project. Accordingly, the process of assessment of lands has been completed.

Officer Sandesh Shirke informed, “The valuation of land to be acquired in 26 villages of both Maval and Mulshi talukas has been determined. This assessment has been completed taking into consideration the owners of the premises while determining the assessment. Also, to avoid a loss to the farmers, a separate assessment has been fixed for each land to be acquired. Therefore, to start the land acquisition in these two taluks, all the processes have been completed now.”

The cost of the project is expected to be Rs 22,000 crore, and Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) has approved the loan of Rs 11,000 crores. If necessary, more amounts will be demanded from HUDCO as per incremental provision. Therefore, the issue of compensation for land acquisition has already been resolved.

Rahul Vasaikar, Superintending Engineer of the Road Department informed, “A separate cell will be set up in the divisional office for ring road land acquisition. The process of land acquisition will soon be started through this chamber. The necessary system has been set up for that. The tender process will be started by completing the land acquisition work by next March. After that, the actual work will start.”
