Pune, August 29, 2020: We will need a period of at least one and a half months to plan and conduct the final year examinations, said Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Nitin Karmalkar. While the Supreme Court has given the verdict making it mandatory for higher educational institutions to conduct final year examinations, the examinations at SPPU will be conducted online, as well as using other alternatives, the VC has stated.

“We have already decided to conduct examinations, and we have been preparing for the same even before the Supreme Court verdict. We will be giving sufficient time to the students to prepare for the examinations, and accordingly exam schedule will be made,” Karmalkar said.

The proctored online entrance examinations conducted by the university for undergraduate and postgraduate courses received a good response. Students from rural areas had also answered these examinations, so the option of online examinations will be considered for final year examinations as well. But Karmalkar said that other alternatives will also be weighed in.
