Pune: Stop Work Notice Issued To Builder And Architect After Boy Dies Following Iron Rod Fall On His Head

Baner, 23rd November 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued stop work notice to the builder of the construction site where a school boy sustained severe injuries after an iron rod fell on his head near Ganraj Chowk in Baner, Pune. A notice has been issued to the architect also.

The deceased boy has been identified as 9-year-old Rudra Ketan Raut.

The incident took place when Rudra was returning home from school. An iron rod fell on Rudra’s head while he was passing by the under construction building around 4 pm on November 22 (Wednesday). Immediate efforts were made to rush him to Jupiter Hospital, but despite the best attempts of medical professionals, Rudra succumbed to his injuries at 1:46 am.

As the news of the incident spread, local authorities, emergency services, and the police were quick to respond. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the iron rods, crucial components in the construction process, appeared to have dislodged from an elevated section of the building, raising questions about the safety protocols in place at the site.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) wasted no time in taking cognizance of the alarming incident. In a decisive move, the PMC issued a stop-work notice to the concerned builder Yashada Brothers and architect Mangesh Bhandekar responsible for the construction site.

Furthermore, the PMC has instructed all workers associated with the development to cease any activities on the said building until a thorough investigation is conducted. The move not only emphasizes the commitment of the PMC to ensuring the safety of its citizens but also aims to prevent any potential hazards that might exist at the site.
