Pune, 23rd November 2023: To enhance entry and security processes at Pune Airport, the DigiYatra facility was introduced, leveraging facial recognition technology for passenger identification. While the facility commenced operations in April, the comprehensive inclusion of all airlines has been a gradual process, causing inconvenience to passengers, particularly those flying with Capital A’s Air Asia, Alliance Air, and Star Air.

Despite being operational for seven months, these three airlines are yet to integrate with the Digiatra facility, leading to delays and longer queues for passengers who are not able to benefit from the swift check-in process facilitated by DigiYatra. Presently, only IndiGo, Vistara, SpiceJet, Air India, and Akasa Air are part of the DigiYatra system.

The issue was brought to light by air traffic expert Darhysheel Vandekar, who addressed a letter to the Chairman of the Airport Authority of India, Sanjeev Kumar. In the letter, Vandekar highlighted the inconvenience faced by thousands of passengers due to the non-participation of some airlines in the DigiYatra facility.

Responding to the concerns raised, Chairman Sanjeev Kumar assured immediate action in his letter. He acknowledged that efforts are underway to include Air Asia in the DigiYatra facility promptly. Additionally, follow-up activities are being conducted with Alliance Air to facilitate their integration into Digiatra. Star Air, although operating with limited services, is also under consideration for inclusion in the DigiYatra facility to provide a seamless experience to passengers.
