Pune: Stray Dog Dies After Being Hit By Car In Katraj; Case Registered

Katraj, 27th August 2026: A stray dog died after allegedly being hit by a car in the Santosh Nagar area of Katraj on August 23. The driver allegedly fled the spot without stopping after the incident.

According to the complaint filed with the Bharati Vidyapeeth police, the incident occurred at around 1:45 pm near a residential building in Santosh Nagar. The dog was reportedly a regular presence in the area.

Shahbaz Mehmood Khan, 52, a resident of Ashoka Aagam Building, Santosh Nagar, informed the police about the incident and lodged a complaint against the unidentified driver.

Following the complaint, the Bharati Vidyapeeth police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Section 11(1)(a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Police Constable Jagtap is investigating the case. Police are currently attempting to identify the vehicle involved and trace the driver.
