Pune: Strict Lockdown will not be extended – District Collector

Pune, 20 July 2020: Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram today clarified that the 10-days strict lockdown (July 14-23) will not be extended. He gave this information while speaking to journalists today.

In order to break the chain of Coronavirus Disease (COVID19) spread, the lockdown has been re-imposed in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and 23 Gram Panchayats which are adjacent to the cities.

Ram said that though the lockdown will not be extended, the rules will be strictly enforced in the containment zones where many positive patients are detected.

According to officials, over 2000 new COVID cases are being reported every day in Pune district and the majority of the patients are from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). The number of positive cases has reached 51885 and 1343 of them have died.
