Bombay High Court judges to get allowance of Rs 50,000 for spectacles

Pune, July 20, 2020: The Maharashtra government will pay an allowance of Rs 50,000 to High Court (HC) judges for eye-wear. The state law and judiciary department had recently issued the notification announcing the annual allowance for purchasing spectacles and its maintenance to HC judges and their spouses.

 

The allowance of reimbursement for spectacles will also cover their family members. For the past five to six months, discussions related to the payment of such an allowance was in talks among the chief justice and former chief secretary Ajoy Mehta. After detailed discussion, the amount has been fixed and HC judges, their spouse and family members are entitled to benefit from it.

According to the High Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Act, every judge and their family members are entitled to such facilities for medical treatment and accommodation in hospitals.
