Pune: Student Died In Road Accident Near MIT Campus In Loni Kalbhor, Another Student Injured

Loni Kalbhor, 8th December 2023: At MIT campus corner on the Pune-Solapur highway, a 21-year-old student from MIT Group College lost his life when his two-wheeler collided with a tractor trolley. The accident occurred at MIT Chowk around 2 pm today.

The deceased, identified as Atharva Kailas Patole (21), a resident of Nashik living in Loni Kalbhor, was pronounced dead at a hospital. His 21-year-old companion, Rohit Anil Pagar, also a student at MIT, suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Vishwaraj Hospital.

Patole and Pagar, both students at MIT for the past year, resided together in a housing society in Loni Kalbhor. The duo was en route to Loni Kalbhor from MIT corner when, approximately 50 feet ahead of the corner, their bike collided with a tractor trolley. The impact was severe, causing the bike to hit the divider and crash onto the road towards Pune.

As a result, both Patole and Pagar were thrown onto the highway. Patole sustained critical head injuries, while Pagar suffered injuries to his hand and leg.

Aarti Khalche, a traffic branch police officer, promptly halted traffic, called for ambulance services, and facilitated their transfer to the hospital.

Despite medical efforts, Patole succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while Pagar continues to undergo medical care. Loni Kalbhor police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

At the accident site, Assistant Police Inspector Shivshant Khose and Police Officer Balaji Bangar conducted a detailed panchnama to gather essential information.
