Daund, 6th May 2025: A 17-year-old girl from Sonawane Mala near Rahu village died by suicide after reportedly being upset over her Class 12 (HSC) exam results. The student, identified as Harshada Baban Pawar, was found hanging at her residence on Monday afternoon around 3 PM, as per police reports.

According to the police, Harshada was a bright and ambitious student studying in Pune. She had earlier secured 87% in her Class 10 examinations. However, in Class 12 results on May 5, she scored 55%, which reportedly left her deeply disappointed.

Her parents, daily wage labourers working in the Rahu Bet area, were away at work at the time of the incident. Her grandparents had also left to visit relatives, leaving Harshada and her younger brother at home. After checking her results, she allegedly took the extreme step. Her younger brother was outside the house when the incident occurred.

When her father returned home and noticed that she wasn’t opening the door for a long time, he looked through the window and broke open the door—only to find his daughter unresponsive. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Rahu, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

As per the complaint filed by her father, Baban Mahadev Pawar, at Yavat Police Station, a case of unnatural death has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
