Pune: Student Loses Life in Lohgaon Road Accident, Locals Blame Poor Infrastructure

Lohgaon, 18th March 2025: A 22-year-old youth lost his life on the spot after being hit by a dumper on D.Y. Patil College Road. The accident occurred on Monday around noon. The deceased has been identified as Swapnil Prakash Salve (22).

According to the Vimantal Police, Swapnil was riding his two-wheeler towards Kesnand after completing his college classes in Dudulgaon when a dumper coming from the opposite direction struck him. The impact was fatal as the vehicle’s rear wheel ran over him, killing him instantly.

Swapnil, a resident of Yavat, Taluka Daund, was pursuing a B.Pharma degree in Dudulgaon. He was living in Kesnand with his friends and also worked at a medical store to support himself. His family consists of his parents and an elder brother.

Following the incident, the police detained the dumper driver, Venkat Gurappa Pawar, a resident of Nirgudi Road, Lohgaon. Further investigation is underway.

Local residents have raised concerns over the poor condition of D.Y. Patil Road, blaming it for frequent accidents. “Despite multiple complaints to the municipal administration, no action has been taken. Officials only assure us that the road will be repaired soon, but nothing changes,” said local residents.
