Pune: Student’s Life Cut Short In Road Accident After Routine Darshan At Dagdusheth Temple

Pune, 9th January 2024: A young man lost his life when he was struck by a two-wheeler travelling in the opposite direction at Rameshwar Chowk on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road. The accident occurred on Tuesday around 9 am.

 

Police have arrest of both the reckless bike rider and the dumper driver involved. The victim, identified as Shubham Dadabhau Doke (21), a resident of Magarpatta, Hadapsar, was on his way home after seeking the darshan of Dagdusheth Ganapati.

 

Despite one-way traffic regulations on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, the accident happened when Abhijit Chandane (40) disregarded traffic rules, taking a turn on his bike from Rameshwar Chowk in the opposite direction. Doke, attempting to avoid the oncoming bike, braked but lost balance, leading to a fatal fall. The rear wheel of a dumper passing nearby ran over Shubham’s head, resulting in his death.

 

Faraskhana Police swiftly took action, arresting both Abhijit Chandane and the dumper driver, Kamaldev Kailas Mahto, who had been travelling in the opposite direction. A case has been registered against them for their involvement in the tragic accident.

 

Doke, a second-year Pharmacology student, had a routine of visiting Dagdusheth Ganapati every Tuesday morning. He is survived by his parents who are teachers.
