Pune: Students Struggle Through Muddy Road to School in Vadgaon; Parents Urge Immediate Repairs

Sinhagad Road, 18th June 2025: Daily travel to school has become a challenge for students of Versatile School in Vadgaon as the road leading to the campus, near Prayeja City on Sinhagad Road, has turned into a muddy stretch due to ongoing rainfall and dumped soil.
Heavy heaps of mud have been placed along the route, and continuous rain has turned the area into a slippery, waterlogged mess. Students are forced to wade through sludge and stagnant water, raising concerns about safety and the possibility of accidents.
Despite repeated appeals by the school to the Pune Municipal Corporation and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), no action has been taken to clear the road. The two departments continue to shift responsibility, leaving the problem unresolved.
“The current condition of the road has made commuting extremely difficult for students and parents alike. It needs immediate attention,” said one of the parents.
School Principal Amrita Patil echoed the concern, stating that students from nursery to Class 12 are affected. “The situation is serious. We’ve written multiple times to the authorities, but there’s been no response. The education and safety of our students are at stake.”
In response, Pankaj Prasad, a manager at NHAI, said that the concerned contractor has been notified and instructed to take further action.
Parents are urging civic officials to prioritize student safety and restore the road promptly to prevent further inconvenience and risk.
