Pune, 3rd March 2025: In response to the surge in document registrations ahead of the possible hike in ready reckoner rates for the upcoming financial year, the Registration and Stamps Department has extended the working hours of all Sub-Registrar Offices across the state by two hours. The new schedule comes into effect from today, 3rd March.

Every year on 31st March, the government announces the new ready reckoner rates, which determine property values for stamp duty calculation. If these rates increase, the stamp duty payable by citizens also rises. Anticipating a hike, many citizens rush to complete their registrations before the new rates come into effect, leading to overcrowding at Sub-Registrar Offices, especially in the last week of March.

To manage the increased workload, Sub-Registrar Offices in major cities often operate late into the night. In light of this, the department has officially extended the working hours until 8:15 pm throughout March to accommodate the growing number of registrations.
