Pune: Summons Issued To IPS Officers Parambir Singh And Rashmi Shukla By Koregaon Bhima Violence Inquiry Commission

Pune, 22nd October 2021: The Koregaon Bhima Judicial Inquiry Commission has issued summons to IPS officers Parambir Singh and Rashmi Shukla to appear before it.

Parambir Singh was ADG ( Law & Order), State of Maharashtra, when the incidents of violence took place at Koregaon Bhima on 1st January 2018 and some time prior and after that date in some parts of the State. He must have received valuable inputs concerning the terms of reference before the Commission, the order states.

Rashmi Shukla was Commissioner of Police (CP) for Pune City at that time. Some incidents of violence had taken place in and around Pune city. CP office must also have received valuable inputs/information concerning the terms of reference before the Commission, the order further reads.

“Therefore, the Commission deems it expedient to examine Parambir Singh and Rashmi Shukla and for the production of documents as prayed in the application. Their affidavits are not on record. Parambir Singh and Rashmi Shukla would be at liberty to file affidavit if they desire”, the order concluded.

The summons will be served to them by the Home Department. They have to appear or file an affidavit by November 8.

Rashmi Shukla is currently posted with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Hyderabad. Parambir Singh posted with the Home Guards department of Maharashtra Police. However, he is non-traceable for months in another case.

The summons was issued on an application filed by Aashish Satpute, Advocate for the Judicial Inquiry Commission.
