Pune, 31st March 2024: Supriya Sule, a prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Sharadchandra Pawar Party, has been nominated to contest the Baramati Lok Sabha seat by the newly formed INDI alliance, as announced by NCP spokesperson Jayant Patil yesterday. Expressing gratitude to the INDIA bloc for selecting her, Sule acknowledged the nomination during an interaction media in Pune.

Regarding the unexpected nomination of her sister-in-law, Sunetra Pawar, by the NCP (Ajit Pawar group) to contest against her, Sule attributed it to a purported conspiracy by the BJP. She asserted that the BJP’s move to field Sunetra Pawar against her reflects an attempt to undermine her father, Sharad Pawar, given the absence of other viable candidates.

In anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the NCP (Ajit Pawar Group) officially declared Sunetra Ajit Pawar as its candidate for the Baramati Constituency. This decision, announced by State President MP Sunil Tatkare in Mumbai, signals the party’s strategic positioning against incumbent MP Supriya Sule. Sunetra Pawar’s nomination underscores the NCP’s intent to present a strong challenge in Baramati.

The move to nominate Sunetra Pawar follows earlier declarations by Ajit Pawar, who nominated Sunil Tatkare in Raigad and Shivajirao Adhalarao Patil in Shirur as part of the Mahayuti alliance, outlining the party’s comprehensive electoral strategy. Additionally, the NCP Sharadchandra Pawar Party has given a ticket to Dr Amol Kolhe to contest against Adhalarao Patil in Shirur.

The political atmosphere in Baramati is tense, with Supriya Sule vying for the Baramati Lok Sabha seat for the fourth time, but facing familial opposition from her sister-in-law, Sunetra Pawar. Party workers find themselves in a dilemma regarding whom to support in Baramati, adding further complexity to the electoral landscape.
