Pune: Surprise Inspection Conducted By PCDA (SC) In Offices Under Southern Command

Pune, 23rd June 2023: Dr Rajeev Chavan, IDAS, ndc, PCDA (SC) Pune, led a surprise inspection of various Sub-Offices under the Southern Command. The inspection, which took place on 22nd June, covered AAO (SC) Dehu Road, AOGE Dehu Road, LAO (COD) Dehu Road, and LAO (OD) Talegaon. Accompanying Dr Chavan were Panveer Saini, IDAS, Addl.CDA, and Shri Swapnil Hanmane, IDAS, ACDA. Additionally, the team also visited the Ordnance Factory.

During their visit to the Ordnance Factory, Dr. Rajeev Chavan met with Shri Sanjeev Gupta, IOFS, Sr.GM, OFDR, Shri N.P.Naik, IOFS Addl.GM, and Shri Amit Rawat, IOFS, Jt.GM. The corporatization of the Ordnance Factories has brought about significant changes in the functioning and working methods of the Factory Command. Discussions revolved around various issues concerning Defence Production, Accounting, and Audit methodology in the Ordnance setup. The focus was on improving the conditions of Ordnance Hospitals and Ordnance School, as well as conducting audits of Service books for Officers and Staff of Allied establishments to enhance user satisfaction.

The inspection also encompassed the LAOs of OD, Talegaon, and COD, Dehu Road. PCDA directed AAO to organize an Audit Conclave to strengthen audit procedures, ensuring transparency and accountability. The aim was to eliminate frivolous objections and observations and focus on qualitative audit objections to enhance process and procedures. PCDA (SC) discussed disaster plans with AOGE Dehu Road, emphasizing the importance of security and safety measures to prevent accidents or mishaps.

At AAO (SC) Dehu Road, PCDA (SC) appreciated the provision of facilities for veterans/Veernaris at the SPARSH Centre, which caters to elderly senior citizens. He urged the officers to process SPARSH cases promptly to ensure retirees receive their PPOs before retirement. PCDA (SC) also directed the installation of a new Groundwater Harvesting System to address water scarcity issues. He encouraged afforestation within the office premises to promote environmental conservation, replacing old CFL lights with energy-efficient LED lights to reduce electricity bills and save costs. The cleanliness of the office was inspected, with the staff being reminded of the importance of maintaining a clean workplace. PCDA also ensured the availability of a fully refilled fire extinguisher and instructed the in-charge to conduct a fire safety drill for preparedness.

During the inspection, PCDA stressed the sensitivity of the offices and discussed matters concerning their security, safety, and stability. The visit concluded with a vote of thanks from Shri Omkar Moghe, DCDA, and a farewell photo at the gate. PCDA (SC) and the team returned to Pune after the inspection.

The surprise inspection aimed to ensure the smooth functioning of these offices, enhance audit procedures, and address various administrative and security aspects.
