Pune: Symbiosis College Professor Suspended after Controversial Statement on Hindu Deities Goes Viral
Pune, 3rd August 2023: A video of Professor Ashok Dhole from Symbiosis College making a controversial statement about Hindu deities has caused a stir on social media after it went viral yesterday. In response to the incident, the college administration has taken swift action, suspending Ashok Dhole. This decision was announced by Hrishikesh Soman, Principal of Symbiosis College.
Following the video’s circulation, several Hindutva organizations in Pune city demanded that the Deccan Police file a case against Professor Ashok Dhole. The police are currently investigating the matter. In light of the incident, a group of protesters from ABVP, gathered at the entrance of Symbiosis College today around 1.30 pm to express their dissent.
Principal Hrishikesh Soman addressed the issue, stating that the controversial statement made by Professor Ashok Dhole within the premises of Symbiosis College does not align with the college’s values and principles. Consequently, the college has taken the step of suspending him from his duties. An inquiry committee has also been appointed to investigate the matter thoroughly. Further action will be taken based on the committee’s findings.
The incident has triggered discussions and reactions from various quarters, and the college administration is closely monitoring the situation. The suspension of Professor Dhole aims to ensure a fair and transparent investigation, as the college upholds its commitment to providing a conducive and respectful academic environment.
