Pune: Tea Shop Owner Assaulted For Giving Less Donation For Ganesh Festival, Case Registered

Pune 26th Sept 2023: A shocking incident has come to light from the Pune Camp area where a tea seller has been assaulted by the members of a ganesh mandal for allegedly paying less donation (Vargani) for the festival. The incident took place on September 23.

According to officials, the complainant runs a tea shop in the 15 August Chowk in the city and members of a local ganesh mandal had come to ask for donation from him on September 23. The members of the ganesh mandal were demanding Rs 1,000 as donation while the tea shop owner urged them to accept Rs 151 due to which a quarrel started between them.

The issue escalated further and the tea shop owner was assaulted. The accused also threatened to shut down his business in the area. A case under relevant sections has been registered against Nilesh Dashrath Kanse (39) and Avinash Rajendra Pandit (32) at Lashkar Police Station. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
