Pune: Teacher Booked For Raping Student, Incident Came To Light After She Informed Child Helpline

Loni Kalbhor, 15th December 2023: A distressing incident has come to light where a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her teacher of the coaching class.

The victim, fed up with the relentless harassment, reached out to the Child Helpline (1098), bringing the heinous act to the forefront. Police have registered an FIR against the accused.

Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan provided details of the case, revealing that the victim, a girl from Satara district, had been staying with her friend in the Handewadi (Haveli taluka) area. She has been attending classes since July 2023. Her ordeal began when the accused teacher allegedly called her to wash clothes around in November. During this encounter, he forcibly established physical relations, instilling fear in the victim, who chose to remain silent.

Despite the trauma, the accused continued to exploit the girl’s vulnerability, calling her home again and subjecting her to rape on two separate occasions. The situation escalated when the victim returned to her native village after the death of her cousin on December 7, 2023.

Taking a brave step, the victim, on December 13, contacted Child Helpline, revealing the continuous harassment she had endured.
Subsequently, a formal complaint was then filed with the Loni Kalbhor police station.

The police swiftly registered a case against the accused for offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act
