Pune, 21st April 2024: The teacher recruitment process through the ‘Pavitra Portal’ faced restrictions due to the implementation of the Lok Sabha Code of Conduct. However, the Election Commission has now granted permission to proceed with this recruitment.

On February 25, 2024, the general merit list management, along with advertisement-wise recommendations for selecting candidates based on merit, was released through the holy portal. The appointment process commenced at the discretion of the appointing authority. This involved counselling sessions and verification of documents for eligible candidates.

However, the implementation of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections and the model code of conduct led to restrictions on appointment proceedings during the Code of Conduct period. Recognizing the urgency and considering relevant court orders, the Education Commissioner’s Office proposed to the Election Commission, via the Government, for permission to continue the appointment process.

In response, the Election Commission granted permission to proceed with appointments following the completion of the voting process in the recommended districts. The Education Commissioner’s Office has received confirmation of this decision, and accordingly, the appointing authority has been directed to take necessary action.

Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare said, “The Election Commission has granted permission to resume the teacher recruitment process. Appointment actions will be taken in respective districts once the voting process is concluded.”
