Pune: Teen Arrested for Setting Motorcycles on Fire Following Dispute with Minor Girl’s Father
Bavdhan, 29th April 2024: In the early hours of Saturday, a minor girl’s father confronted an 18-year-old boy in Bavdhan, leading to a disturbing incident where the latter set fire to the man’s motorcycle.
The arrested teenager, already with a criminal record, not only targeted the man’s bike but also caused damage to three other motorcycles in the blaze. The aggrieved man promptly lodged a complaint with the Hinjawadi police station (Pimpri Chinchwad Police) regarding the incident.
A team led by Assistant Inspector Ram Gomare nabbed the suspect along with two accomplices. Gomare revealed that the arrested teenager had a previous case of murder registered against him during his minor years.
Investigations uncovered that the suspect had been stalking a minor girl for several days. Upon learning of this, the complainant confronted the suspect, provoking the latter’s ire.
Enraged by the reprimand, the suspect, accompanied by his two associates, descended upon the complainant’s residence. There, they proceeded to set fire to the man’s motorcycle, which subsequently spread to engulf three more parked motorcycles. While two bikes suffered complete destruction, the remaining two were partially damaged in the conflagration.
Utilizing CCTV footage from the area and acting on a tip-off, the police swiftly detained the suspect and his accomplices. They have been charged under section 435 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for mischief by fire or explosive substance with the intent to cause damage.
