Pune: Teen Drowns In Kasarsai Dam; Body Recovered After 24 Hours
Pune, 21st July 2025: Body of a 19-year-old youth drowned in Kasarsai Dam on Sunday (20th July) was recovered on Monday (21st July) morning, nearly 24 hours after he went missing.
The deceased has been identified as Santosh Shahaji Raut, a resident of Sane Colony, Chikhli and a native of Malegaon, Kej taluka in Beed district.
According to the information received, Santosh had come to the dam along with four friends for a trip. He reportedly drowned around 11 am on Sunday. After an intensive search operation that lasted overnight, his body was finally recovered around 11:30 am on Monday.
The rescue operation was carried out by members of Vanyajeev Rakshak Maval Sanstha and Shivdurg Rescue Lonavala with the support of a dedicated team that included Nilesh Garade, Sunil Gaikwad, Mahesh Masne, Rajendra Kadu, Akash More, Anil Andre, Shubham Kakade, Vinay Sawant, Anish Garade, Vikas Doddi, Harshad Kalokhe, Yogesh Dalvi, and Ajay Huge.
Authorities have urged visitors to exercise extreme caution near water bodies during the monsoon season, when water levels can rise unpredictably and currents become stronger.
