Pune: Teen Girl Ends Life in Pimpri-Chinchwad After Scoring Distinction; Police Still Unaware of Full Details?

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 15th May 2025: A shocking incident has come to light in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where a 16-year-old girl died by suicide despite securing a distinction in her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) 10th Class Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education. The incident occurred around 10:30 AM today in Walhekarwadi.
Despite the incident taking place in the morning, it appears that the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police are not fully aware of the details. According to sources, the girl has been identified as Umang Ramesh Londhe, a resident of Walhekarwadi. The SSC exam results were declared 48 hours earlier, on Tuesday.
Reports suggest that some of Umang’s friends secured scores in the ‘glorious’ 80–90% range. While she secured 75%, a commendable grade by all standards, she reportedly felt it was not good enough. Disheartened and disappointed, she allegedly took the drastic step when her parents were away from home. She hanged herself using a scarf. Her father discovered her upon returning home, and she was rushed to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The Chinchwad Police are currently investigating the matter. However, what raises further concern is the lack of detailed information being shared by the authorities. When Punekar News contacted Senior Police Inspector Ankush Bangar, in charge of Chinchwad Police Station, he confirmed that the incident had occurred but declined to provide any further details or confirmation, stating that he needed more time to gather the full information.
It is worrying that, even after more than eight hours since the incident occurred, the station in-charge does not have complete information about such a serious case within his jurisdiction.
