Pune: Telangana Police Arrest Three Including Chinese Woman For Operating Call Centre In Cheating Case

Pune, December 28, 2020: Telangana police have busted a gang which duped people under the pretext of helping them get instant loans online. Telangana Police with the help of Pune police raided a call centre in Pune and took major action. Police have arrested three people, including a Chinese woman from the spot.

The arrested accused are Parshuram Lahu Takwe, his wife Liang Tian Tian (of Chinese origin) and SK Aqib, the manager of the call center. Over 600 employees worked at the call centre who were made to use their personal phone numbers to call customers.

Police have seized more than 100 laptops and mobiles during the operation. Several documents have also been seized. Police also found lakhs of rupees in the bank accounts of the arrested accused. The operation was carried out on Saturday evening.

Companies offering online loans in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana are on the radar of the police. Telangana police had received information that the process of giving online loans was going on from a call centre in Pune.

Accordingly, Telangana police with the help of Koregaon Park Police station raided the call centre on Saturday.  

Third Chinese accused arrested

This is the third arrest of a Chinese national in this digital online lending fraud case. Earlier, the police arrested Ebai alias Denis, a Chinese citizen who hails from Shanghai. This arrest has been made from Delhi. The accused was running eleven online lending mobile applications. In which small loans were given to people between the age of 20 to 40 years, at a much higher interest. In the month of October also, a Chinese citizen was arrested from Delhi who was illegally running the gambling business. He was accused of siphoning crores of rupees from the citizens. The accused is currently lodged in a jail in Hyderabad.

18 people arrested from across the country

Till now, Telangana Police have arrested 18 people from across the country in the online fraud case. The police started the operation when four victims committed suicide. One of them was an agricultural officer and another software engineer. Many people have also complained to the police about this. The victims said that their photos were also shared on social media so that they do not lodge complaints with the police. Police said that the accused had signed a loan recovery agreement with four finance companies in Mumbai and Mysore. In this regard, the accused had set up a call center in Pune.
