Pune: Thief Fakes Death To Avoid Police, Arrested
Kothrud, 2nd February 2023: Pune police have arrested a thief who stole a car from the Kothrud area a year ago. The thief faked his death to escape from the police. In a newspaper in Madhya Pradesh, he published the news of his death through his relatives. He was arrested from Madhya Pradesh after getting information that the thief was alive during the police investigation.
The arrested thief has been identified as Vivek Mishra, a resident of Maihar in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. Mishra had a tyre shop in the Kothrud area. A year ago, he had stolen an Ertiga vehicle from the Kothrud area. He had stolen a bike from the Paud area in 2021. After the theft, Mishra went to his native place. He had published the news of his death in a newspaper through his relatives. The police got information about the death of Mishra during the preliminary investigation.
After that, a police team went to Mishra’s native village in Madhya Pradesh. However, his relatives informed the police about his death.
Hemant Patil, the senior police inspector of Kothrud police station, said that they had shown the news clipping to the investigation team. However, a discreet investigation revealed that Mishra is alive. He was using a stolen motor.
Police sub-inspector Mali and policemen Dahibate and Chaudhar of the detection team got the information that Mishra has come to Pune by changing the number plate of a car. After that, he was trapped and taken into custody. Two crimes of vehicle theft have been revealed from him.
The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (West region) Rajendra Dahale, DCP (Zone 3) Suhail Sharma, ACP Rukmini Galande and Senior Police Inspector Hemant Patil.
The team included Police Inspector (Crime) Balasaheb Bade, Sub-Inspector Mali, and police personnel Chaudhar, Sul, Shirke, Rathod, Valmiki, Dahibate and Shelke.
