Pune: Thief Fires Two Rounds From Pistol After Being Caught By Brave Youth During Burglary

Ghorpade Peth, 2 September 2021: In a daring action, a 23-year-old youth nabbed a burglar who was stealing valuables from his flat in Ghorpade Peth.

 

The thief, who is currently out from jail on parole, bite him and fired two rounds from country made pistol, but the youth Avej Salim Ansari did not let him go.

 

He brought down the thief identified as Vithal Waman Bhole (47), a native of Jalgaon who lived in Hadapsar. Some more people had gathered outside building hearing the commotion who overpowered him. People thrashed him before handing him over to the police.

 

The incident took place around 1.30 pm at Heena Tower near Khadakmal Ganpati in Ghorpade Peth.

 

According to police, Bhole’s sister who was standing guard outside the building fled during the commotion. Police teams are searching for her.

 

Avej’s family resides on the first floor and second floor of the building. His brother’s flat on the first floor was locked as the family was out. Avej who runs snack centre in Balajinagar had brought food for his mother who was on the second floor.

 

Senior Police Inspector Shrihari Bahirat, incharge of Khadak police station, said, “Avej heard some sound coming from the first floor flat. He went to check and found Bhole stealing from cupboard. Bhole threatened him with weapons following which Avej asked not to harm him and take away the valuables.

 

While Bhole was going out, Avej caught hold of him and was taking him down through the staircase when Bhole bite on his hand. Bhole fired two rounds from country made pistol but missed the target.

 

Meanwhile, Avej didn’t loose grip and brought him out of the building. Some residents and shopkeepers had gathered, who overpowered Bhole and beat him. After getting information, our team reached the spot and caught the accused. Preliminary investigation has revealed that there are cases registered against him including that of burglary. Further investigation is going on.”

Hrishikesh Balgude, who Iives in opposite building, said, “I thought somebody was bursting crackers. When I went to check, Avej called me saying a thief has fired at him. I informed the police who arrived within minutes.”
