Pune: Thieves Attempt to Run Over Policemen in Katraj; Police Fire in Self-Defense
Katraj, 22nd July 2024: In a dramatic incident in Pune’s Katraj area, police were forced to open fire on a group of thieves who attempted to run over them with a car. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The altercation occurred near the Wonder City area of Katraj yesterday.
Police Sub-Inspector Ratikant Koli, stationed at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station, reported the incident. A case has been filed against the unidentified thieves. On the previous night, PSI Koli and his Detection Branch (DB) team were patrolling the Katraj Dehu Road Bypass on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway when they observed several youths attempting to steal diesel from a parked car.
Upon spotting the police, the youths quickly jumped into their vehicle. Armed with sharp weapons, the suspects attempted to run over the DB team. PSI Koli, acting swiftly, fired at the vehicle in self-defense. The thieves managed to escape and fled towards the Navale Bridge area.
