Pune, 28th November 2022: Thousands of rickshaw drivers in Pune city are protesting outside the Regional Transport Office (RTO) demanding that illegal bike taxis be stopped in Pune city. The Anti-Bike Taxi Movement Committee has warned that the state government should take an immediate decision on the issue of rickshaw drivers otherwise there will be more intense agitation.

Various rickshaw associations in the city have participated in this movement and passenger services have been stopped. Due to this, the citizens are facing a lot of trouble.

In the protest, slogans are being raised against the state government. At this time Keshav Kshirsagar, the president of the Baghtoy Rickshawwala Forum, said “The rickshaw drivers in the city do not want anything other than their fare. But with the start of online booking for private vehicles in the last eight years, the rickshaw driver’s job has been taken off. The time of starvation has come for many of them and now the bike taxi service has started.”

“Therefore, today we have come together with various organisations in the city and stopped the passenger service,” he added further.

“Taking notice of this incident, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde should decide to stop the bike taxi service. Otherwise, a more intense fight will be set up in the future,” he continued.
