Pune: Three Ambulances Seized By RTO For Charging Extra

Pune, September 18, 2020: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) on Thursday seized three ambulances for charging extra money than the stipulated rates from patients’ relatives.

During the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, ambulance charges are fixed so that they do not charge extra from the relatives of the patients. However, the ambulances were seized which charged more. The ambulances will remain in the RTO premises till further action, said Regional Transport Officer Ajit Shinde.

The current rates are Rs 500, 600 and 900 for the first two hours or 25 km depending on the type of vehicle. For further distance, they will be able to charge Rs 11, 12 and 13 per kilometre. They will charge Rs 100, Rs 125 and Rs 150 per hour for waiting, Shinde said. The same rate is mandatory for public trusts, boards and private hospital ambulances, he added.
