Pune: Three Arrested For Selling Property With Forged MoU

Pune, October 29, 2020: Three persons have been arrested by the Crime Branch of Pune police for allegedly faking documents and trying to sell a property located at Tilak Road in Sadashiv Peth. The property belongs to the royal family of the erstwhile princely state of Aundh. The police investigation revealed that a forged Memorandum of understanding (MoU) was prepared for the property for sale.

Balaji Arun Wadekar (37), resident of Gokhle Nagar, who is representative of the royal family, has filed a complaint on behalf of Pant Pratinidhi, at Vishrambaug Police station. The police had arrested three of four accused. The arrested accused are identified as Sashi Shankar Podwal (59) of Yerwada, Asif Jalil Khan (69) of Market Yard and Anwar Yunuskhan Pathan (54) of Gokhale Nagar.

According to police, the accused allegedly planned and forged an MoU between them and Pant Pratinidhi. Using this fake MoU they tried to sell the property before they could complete the transaction, the fraud came to light.

The complainant had approached the Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta who had tasked DCP (Crime Branch) Bachchan Singh to probe the case.

Accordingly, a team led by Police Sub Inspector Nilesh Mahadik raided Podwal’s office in Bhosari and seized the fake documents. A magistrate court has remanded the three accused to police custody till October 31.

Police Sub Inspector Dattajirao Mohite is further investigating the case.
