Pune: Three Arrested for Stealing 53 Two-Wheelers Worth Rs 26.10 Lakh in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, 12th March 2025: Pimpri Chinchwad Police have arrested three individuals involved in a significant vehicle theft operation, recovering 53 stolen two-wheelers valued at Rs 26.10 lakh. The suspects, identified as Santosh Maruti Shinde (32), Dheeraj Pradip Sawant (23), and Balaji Bhosale (24), were apprehended following a thorough investigation involving the analysis of over 150 CCTV footage clips from the Pimpri area.

The breakthrough came when police identified one of the thieves from CCTV footage and set a trap near the PCMC Metro Station, where they apprehended Santosh Shinde. During interrogation, Shinde confessed to the thefts and revealed the involvement of his two accomplices. Subsequent arrests led to the recovery of the stolen vehicles, which were linked to a total of 35 crimes across Pimpri-Chinchwad (25 cases), Pune City (4 cases), Kolhapur (2 cases), and Satara (4 cases).

Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore highlighted the use of extensive CCTV footage to track down the culprits. This successful crackdown is expected to reduce vehicle theft incidents in the region.

The action was carried out by the Detection Branch (DB) of Pimpri Police Station under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1), the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Pimpri Division), and Senior Police Inspector Ashok Kadlag.
