Pune: Three, Including Transgender Person, Arrested in Hadapsar for Selling Mephedrone Drug Worth Rs 44 Lakh
Hadapsar, 30th October 2025: The Kolhapur Action Division of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force has busted a drug trafficking racket in Pune’s Hadapsar area, arresting three people, including a transgender person, for allegedly selling and transporting the synthetic drug Mephedrone (MD). The seized items, including drugs and other materials, are valued at ₹44,31,950.
According to the police, the arrests were made on Tuesday evening when task force officers were patrolling the Hadapsar, Wanawadi, and Kalepadal areas. Officers noticed a woman and a transgender person behaving suspiciously on a two-wheeler near the Indane Gas Agency on the Manjari to Chowk No. 15 Road.
Upon searching them, police recovered 60 grams and 8 millilitres of Mephedrone (MD), along with two mobile phones, a weighing scale, and the two-wheeler used for transportation. The seized items are collectively valued at ₹31,950.
The suspects were identified as Megha Deepak Jagtap (27), a resident of Mahadevnagar, Hadapsar, and Snehal alias Ganesh Shivsanch (21), a resident of Sasanenagar Road, Hadapsar. During interrogation, Megha reportedly confessed to having procured the narcotics from Salman Salim Sheikh, a resident of Ghorpade Peth, who was subsequently arrested.
A case has been registered against all three accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Hadapsar Police Station.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Tavaskar and led by Police Inspector Prema Patil of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Kolhapur Action Division, Pune. The team included Sarojini Chavan, Assistant Police Inspector Madhavanand Dhotre, and other officers.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and identify other individuals involved in the network.
